At the 6th annual National Geographic Information Systems Conference [1] in the Cairo Marriott, IT Synergy presented on the 12th of September a paper discussing the implementation of Early Warning Systems using GIS. Key to the technologies set forth in the paper were the concepts of open source components, sharing of sensitive data, distributed information processing, and capacity building.

IT Synergy were presented with an award for the participation in the conference; in keeping with our philosophy of practising what we preach regarding open content and culture, we have made our paper available in both PDF [1] version and Macromedia Flash [1] version.
